Alongside this, I've set up a parallel blog containing "Today" pictures ... Today is a series of photographs sent out to an email list, notionally one image a day although it doesn't always work out that way. Some people have asked for an archive so that they can go back and look at past images again; one asked for an RSS feed; so the Today blog is my answer to both.
I personally still prefer the idea that each Today is evanescent, dropping into the inbox, living only for the day and disappearing, but I've actually been quite surprised, as I upload the old ones one at a time ... "oh yes - I'd forgotten that!"
I am now going through the old emails, gradually putting in the past Today images, and that's where the ‘Sysiphus’ heading came from. Sysiphus, for some crime or other, was condemned to push a rock endless up a hill for eternity ... I supposed the cycle of mouse clicks necessary to put up an old Today image, 190 times, is a soft option really but it can get pretty tedious. So, I'm doing it a month at a time. This morning I did January, had a sandwich, banged my head against the wall a bit, and moved on. Only five more months to go...
